In 1786, William Bingham, a wealthy banker and land speculator from Philadelphia, purchased 10,000 acres of land in Upstate New York. Bingham had a vision of building a model village that would rival any in New England. Using rare archival material and interviews with historians, Binghamton: Building the Parlor City chronicles the history of Binghamton, New York.
