The area was originally the home of the Cayuga and Onondaga Iroquois tribes. The first European settlers arrived in the area after the American Revolution. Later, the railroad brought more settlers and further growth to the county. Today, travelers to Tioga County can explore many of the historic places and events that shaped the regions history, all while enjoying the natural beauty of Upstate.
